Create Pre-Assigned Breakout Rooms By Hand in Zoom

It is desirable at times to pre-assign students to Break Out rooms in Zoom.  One way to do this is to upload a CSV file with the email addresses of students, but it is a cumbersome process to complete, as described in Zoom’s Knowledge Base, hereWhat if you wanted to do it by hand?  You CAN, but your typography must be perfect.

The prerequisite for creating Zoom Break Out Rooms, manually, is that you must enable Breakout Rooms to be created in your Zoom settings.  (The switch is a pill button that must be shifted to the right so it is blue, not gray).  Also put a checkmark in the box next to “Allow host to assign participants to breakout rooms when scheduling.”

Then, create a new meeting, or edit an existing one.  Follow the steps shown in the screencast below, which also shows the host’s experience during a Zoom meeting.
